I began my journey in the healthcare field by attending J.T.P.A. School of Practical Nursing in 1995. In 2001, I graduated from Schoolcraft College with an AAS degree in Nursing. Attending SC assisted me in enhancing my career as a nurse and facilitating my ongoing efforts to perform nursing best practices. In 2009, I completed my studies through Oakland University's RN-BSN Sequence Program. I am pursuing graduate studies at the University of Detroit Mercy to obtain my master’s in nursing with a concentration in Health Systems Management. My most life touching moments arrive from my employment within the Department of Veterans Affairs. I look forward to continuing my career in healthcare and the opportunity to change lives on a daily basis.

I will look forward to receiving the alumni emails from Schoolcraft and The Tower Magazine mailings in the future.  Thank you for hooking me up with Schoolcraft again.

Clothildes Tate
Clothildes Tate, Class of 2004, 2005

I joined the United States Army Reserve, Jan 1983 – Mar 2003.  I trained initially as an Administrative Assistant and later earned my secondary MOS Military Police! I worked at Comerica Bank for 10 -1/2 years before getting hired by the United States Postal Service.  I worked 12 years as a Processing and Distribution Clerk at the post office before coming full circle as the Secretary for Operations Programs Support at District (Southeast Michigan).

I took my backup plan as an Executive Secretary full circle, because I was selected as the best qualified Secretary! This was possible because of my former training and non-traditional education earned at Schoolcraft College.  I graduated from SC with two Honors Associates Degrees – AAS and AGS while working midnights, with a family, volunteering and attending Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts.  Schoolcraft College, staff, faculty and students, I love you and thank you very much for your special talents, but especially for all the opportunities you have given and brought out of me!

For nearly 25 years after high school, I carried around regret that I never went to college. Then I enrolled at Schoolcraft. Thanks to superior instructors and enduring classmates, I have made life-long friendships. I am living proof that no matter how old the dream, desire can make it happen.
