Wilkie Family
“Giving to Schoolcraft lets
me help people who are
helping themselves.”

— Mark Wilkie
Livonia Bentley
HS grad 1969

An incredible opportunity — but we need your help!

Thanks to the outstanding generosity of the Wilkie family, between now and Dec. 31, 2025, your donation to the Greatest Needs Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $150,000. That is $25,000 more than last year, amplifying your impact even further.

Why Your Gift Matters

Programs like Community College Guarantee and Michigan Reconnect help, but they don’t cover everything. Many students still face food insecurity, housing instability, mental health challenges, and
financial stress.

According to Schoolcraft’s 2024 Student Financial Wellness Survey:

Your support helps bridge these gaps with emergency aid, scholarships, and wrap-around services.

How Your Gift Helps

Your donation to the Greatest Needs Fund supports:

You help bridge the gap between potential and possibility.

From Doubt to Determination

After a rough start in high school, Sophia wasn’t sure college was for her. But her love for math never faded. After taking a gap year, she took a chance on herself at Schoolcraft College—and everything
changed.

Encouraged by an advisor, she pursued engineering and now maintains a 4.0 GPA, tutors fellow students, and dreams of working at NASA after completing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan.

Receiving the $6,000 Foundation Scholar Award was life changing.

“It’s the reason I can focus on school while still working,” she said.

Sophia found community in the Math and Physics Club and now helps others as a Peer Assisted Learning Leader.

“I’ll never forget the donors’ support. It’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received.”

Finding His Time: How the Foundation Helped Mike Succeed

At 42, after two previous college attempts and a life-changing car accident, Mike found his path at Schoolcraft College. With the help of wrap-around services, the flexibility of online learning, and the support of caring faculty, he earned his degree with a 3.97 GPA and is now pursuing a career in supply chain operations.

A $500 scholarship from the Schoolcraft Foundation wasn’t just financial help—it was a vote of confidence.

“It showed me someone believed in me,” Mike said.

From Debt to Determination: A Future in Nursing

After earning a bachelor’s degree in a field he didn’t pursue,Shabbir was left with debt and uncertainty.

Inspired by the nurses he worked alongside as a dialysis technician, he returned to school—while working full-time and supporting his family.

“I was not eligible for financial aid, and my previous debt made affording school even harder,” Shabbir shared. “This scholarship lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and helped me in ways I can’t fully put into words.”

Shabbir is now a proud AAS Nursing graduate and is working toward his dream of becoming a nurse practitioner, determined to help his family and make a lasting impact in his community.

“Organizations like yours truly make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.
“I’m so grateful for your support.”

Together, we’re empowering dreams through education.

You are changing lives with every gift you make.
