2023 Economic Outlook

The 2023 Economic Outlook Pop-Up Program took place on
Thursday, January 26th, 2023 in the Vistatech Center.

Dr. Cedric Howie

Nationally recognized economist, Dr. Cedric Howie has been a full-time member of the faculty in Economics at Schoolcraft College for 31 years. Prior to coming to Schoolcraft, Professor Howie taught at colleges and universities in South Carolina, Massachusetts, Nebraska and Japan.


Women in Philanthropy

The Women in Philanthropy Pop-Up Program took place on
Friday, March 24th, 2023 in the Vistatech Center.

On Friday, March 24th, WJR’s Marie Osborne moderated a “Women in Philanthropy” panel discussion featuring: Marina Shoemaker,  SC Foundation Board Member, Co-Chair Vision 2025 Campaign, & Director of DEI External Partnerships, General Motors; Robin Whitfield, SC Foundation Board Member & Financial Advisor, Edward Jones Investments; Beth Meade, President/CEO, Local Impact Alliance & Canton Community Foundation; Ruselda Villanueva Johnson, CEO, Rhonda Walker Foundation.

The panel focused on the role women play in decision making regarding personal giving, what drives women to give, and the power of giving back to the greater community.  The discussion also included the importance of women giving not only treasure, but time and talent.

The Power of Planning Pop-Up Program took place on
Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 in the Vistatech Center.

This discussion was led by Schoolcraft College Alumnus Dewey Steffen, CEO/Chief Investment Officer at Great Lakes Wealth.  We explored the Silicon Valley Bank collapse, it’s greater impact on all of us and our local banks, and the importance of a solid plan. It was a great opportunity to hear from an expert in the field!
