Your contributions can provide needed scholarships to students, program support, equipment and facilities, as well as funding for innovative projects. Please take some time to review the ways you can Make an Impact at Schoolcraft College.

General Endowment

By contributing to the Schoolcraft Foundation General Endowment Fund you provide us with the flexibility to direct contributions to where they are needed most. Additionally, unrestricted gifts allow us to seize opportunities and address unforeseen challenges as they arise. These funds can be used to provide additional scholarship aide, classroom equipment, or to fund an innovative idea – wherever the money is need most. Scholarships

Although our tuition is among the most affordable in the region, many of our students simply could not afford a Schoolcraft College education without some form of financial aid. We view donor contributions as investments in our institution and our students, which yield long term rewards and forge an enduring legacy in the lives of our students and in the future of our communities. Scholarships allow students to improve their careers, their lives and the lives of their families. By donating to an existing scholarship fund or establishing a new fund, you make the dream of higher education a reality and the hope of a better future possible.

Foundation Grants

Schoolcraft College faculty members are dedicated to expanding their students’ intellectual and practical potential. In the classroom they often lead in partnerships of discovery, structuring the quest so that students take ownership of the ideas they discover or develop. To that end, the Foundation has long recognized the need for supplemental grant funding for emerging or innovative initiatives developed by our faculty and staff. These grants provide our students and the campus community with exceptional learning experiences—academic out of the box experiences— that may not have been otherwise possible in these times of state and federal budget reductions.

Often the College leverages these grants to secure additional funding through matching gift programs from public and private sources. The Foundation has awarded over $1,000,000 in grants over the past twenty years.

Designated Gifts and Named Funds

Often donors have had a special experience in life or with Schoolcraft College that leads them to want to make a specific impact with their gift. This can be accomplished through donating to an existing designated fund or by the donor establishing a new designated fund which can be named in their or another’s honor. Creating a new designated fund requires a minimum contribution of $1,000, which can be made over a three year period.

Endowment Funds

Similar to Designated Gifts/Named Funds, Endowment Funds are created to make a specific impact at Schoolcraft College. Whether the donor’s intent is to establish a permanent scholarship for students, or to support a vital program or activity, endowed funds assist the College and its students for generations to come because the corpus of the endowment is held in perpetuity with the interest earned made available for distribution. Our current policy is to establish an individual permanent endowment with an initial investment of $25,000 which can be made over a five year period.

To learn more about how to establish an Endowed Fund please contact the Schoolcraft College Foundation at (734) 462-4455 or via email at development@schoolcraft.edu.

Campus Enhancements

Over the years the Foundation has partnered with its donors to play an active role in making the campus a more supportive and attractive environment. The Foundation and its donors have provided support and supplemental funding for the Bradner Library renovation, the Center for Biomedical Technology, the construction of the VisTaTech Center and the renovation of the Waterman Center, and various pieces of campus art and sculpture.
